Help mounting tires on demountable clincher rims

I have a set of the Riverside (Made in Vietnam) tires, fresh, new, and 4 freshly sandblasted and painted demountable clincher rims.

I must be doing something wrong. I simply cannot believe these are this much trouble. I have to believe I can accomplish the same thing a million farmers did before.

I installed new tube, aired up to shape, let air out. Put garbage sack against rim. Got one side on with use of irons. It's so tight it won't budge forward enough to get the valve stem started through the hole.

Were these really this difficult? I can't see any way to get this to work. Starting to understand why everyone embraced the Model A's and left the cussed Model T in the corner of the barn.

I powdered mine with talc and used flaps. Start with stem and worked them on by hand. Hardly had to use an iron and I didn't use a plastic sack.

I also started at the stem end, but I mainly get a screw driver about two feet long and pried both sides of the tires on at the same time. I've done it with tire spoons and I find the bigger the pry bar the better.
