Help me ID this "stop" tail light

Gentlemen,
Again, I rely on your vast collective knowledge and experience.
I purchased this "stop" tail light on Ebay and intend to use it on my '36 Fordor as a third light possibly in the back window. A quick perusal of Google images didn't return anything that looked exactly like this. I've had the lens off and have found no manufactures mark inside or out.

I was hoping that some of you may know:
1. about what year it was manufactured.
2. Who the manufacture may have been.
3. Have a picture of another one, possibly in use or on a car.

It came with and appears to have only one wire and one attachment point. How would that work?
Thank you!

Mike, That looks like a great find, and should definitely help keep you safe in traffic. There have been similar stop lights over the years, I don't recognize that particular one.

The single wire would connect directly to your stop light circuit, which is also a single wire. The mounting arm must be fastened in such a way as to provide grounding to the car body, which is the + leg of the electrical system in your Ford.

Hi Mike, I would think it is an after market accessory stop light made to fit on any cars or trucks. Probably 1920s or 1930s. Nice light. I have one similar which is curved to mount around the top of a round tail light. The glass lens is a blue/green colour on mine. Regards, Kevin.

Allen,
I guess I knew head lights needed to be well grounded to work well but didn't realize the tail lights were the same way.

Kevin,
I've seen several of the curved ones via google, but I haven't seen a rectangular one like this one. It has me a bit intrigued.

My wife seems to remember seeing those on old logging trucks. She remembers he grandfather having one in his garage.

That is a really good looking light !
Glad you got it and are going to put it on a flathead FORD !
