help ignition wires

Help. I am new to the T and the Ford Barn, so please bear with me.

I have a complete chassis for a 26 coupe. the engine has been rebuilt, but there are no ignition switch, or wires from the starter button. I would like to determine if I have spark. I have looked at diagrams and see a terminal block where wires go to the mag and the coil box. As I am new to the car and just want to "hot wire" the ignition to determine spark, I need to know if I am seeing the diagrams correctly.

the wires from the terminal goes to the mag, which I believe is at the top of ******, just aft of the block-is this right?

Also, The only external connection I can locate on the coil box (steel) is on the bottom-is this where the location for wire to the coil.

please accept my thanks in advance for any help that you can give me.

yes. you make that wire hot. Now when you turn the motor over you will hear a coil buzz for its cylinder.
Go over to the MTFCA forum,lots of advice over there. and there quick to respond!

Be careful not to feed battery power to the terminal on top of the hog's head - that will damage your magneto.

This may help;

No the wire does not go to the terminal on the hogs head. Your hot wire goes from the hot side (battery side) of the starter switch to the terminal on the bottom of the coil box (if you have a 26-27 box). You might want to add a switch in between. + to starter, - to ground.

Here is how I did it as a wet behind the ears 16 yr old after I had restored my '27 touring chassis. All you need is a length of 12 or 10 gauge wire and two good alligator clips on each end. Battery wired as it should be in the frame. Remember negative (-) ground. and run one end of the wire to the positive end of the battery and the other to the connection on the bottom of the coil box. Crank over and the coils should buzz.... to check the Mag have another wire with clips each end one end connected to the Mag post and the other end loose not touching anything and with the engine running at a good fast idle pull the battery wire clip from the coil box and quickly connect the clip from the Mag that was hanging loose. If the mag is good she should keep on running with maybe only a skip or two. DO NOT Touch the mag wire to the battery hookup. As it's been mentioned it will discharge your MAG. To switch the wire to the coil box takes both hands and quick action like a switch would. (your just acting like the switch.

Good luck.
