Help identify gear shift knob

Please help me identify the gear shift knob in the attached pictures. I think its the right one for a 1928 Ford but it looks different from the ones in the supplier's catalogs. It is 1 9-16 inch in diameter, 1 1-4 inch high, and it has a 1-4 inch flat section on the side around the circumference. Thanks for any help received.

Yes it is a 28 gear shift knob. I have three used knobs that are worn the same way. It is quite interesting to compare the original well used mushroom shaped knobs with an NOS original which I have also. In the pictures above, you can still see the flat surface around the edge. It's amazing how much they wore over the years.

Glenn C. - I sure would like to see photos of your NOS one next to a used one if you have the time. I have one well-stuck to a rusty stick shift - does anyone know whether the material that these knobs were made of is affected by Kroil or the like? Thanks.

Not to worry about the Kroil. I had one that was very stuck also and after spraying it down and waiting a week, it came off quite easily. I think I used Gibbs to spray it.

Rich.....I will send you photos via email tomorrow. I don't have the moxy to understand how to attach photos to the message on the barn yard. I think I have your email address on file from some time back. If you break your knob, don't swet it. A replacement one will appear in the mail upon request, as you provided me with valuable information a few years back. One favor deserves another back.

It is simple to put pictures on these pages. Simply go to www.photobucket.com
Open an account and upload your photo. Cut the photos IMG Code from photobucket and paste it on these pages. It is so simple that even I can do it. :D
