Help identify an engine block

Can someone help me identify this engine or some information about it. I believe it is an 8BA. When I received it, there was no intake, no heads, and the front cover of the engine was missing. There were some numbers, MX 27 185, stamped underneath where the intake manifold would be.
In the galley at the rear of the engine is what appears to be the number 1BA-W. On the back of the engine there’s a number that appears to be 35 followed by something that I can’t read. Any ideas? Thanks

"1BA" parts were parts first used in 1951. Ford-a-Matic specific stuff comes to mind. I have a '51 that had it's original engine when I got it; there were a bunch of "1BA" parts in it. Valve rotators started in '51, so they are usually "1BA".

It doesn't make a lot of difference, though. All 8BA blocks (even Mercury's) are virtually identical.

Here are a couple of photos of the block.

Yep, that's an 8BA block all right. Whether it's a Ford or Merc or even the year is unimportant. Crack status is what counts.

Some 8BA's have the assembly date code stamped on the top of the block in the right rear. Go to this site for more information : https://myflatheadford.com/5988-2/.
