Help driveshaft info (Q/C)

I have a 34 driveshaft it has a 10 spline end at the rear I need to change to a six spline to match up to my rear for (halabrand Q/C) although I do have a couple six spline ends they are to small to fit the 34 shaft. So is there a fat six spline coupler that is as fat as the ten spline or do I need to make a sleave for the six spline to press in? Thanks in advance Richard

Richard, at one time Dick Spadaro was making a tubular drive shaft that the customer would make the final cut to length and weld in a 6 or 10 spline bung that came with the drive shaft. Maybe he would still have some of those 6 spline bungs. Other possibilities are boring out the 10 spline end then fit and weld in the smaller diameter 6 spline coupler or completely remove to 10 spline end on your drive shaft and make a sleave that fits the end of the drive shaft with an ID that accepts the 6 spline coupler. Then weld that assembly in place.
It may also be possible to convert to a later center bearing type torque tube and solid drive shaft with 6 to 6 spline coupler.
In any case, I would suggest calling Dick Spadaro for his recomemdation since he knows a lot about installing a QC in early Ford V8 banjo rears.

Find the 6 to 10 spline adapter. There was one on here or the hamb a week or So back. Cutting and welding required

The Ford 6 spline from late 36 through 41 will accept the six spline male shaft that goes into the Ford U-joint 32-48. So if your differential has the same male 6 spline shaft as the front of your drive shaft then look for a coupler from the 37-41 Ford. They had a drive shaft with two male ends and used a coupler to attach the drive shaft to the male pinion shaft. You then will have to make an adapter to get the O.D. of the coupler (1-1/2") into the drive shaft, modify the drive shaft length and have the drive shaft, adapter, and coupler welded together, maybe even balanced. If it was easy anyone could do it.

What I did on my 33 was to machine out (bore out) the 10 spline on the end of the 33 shaft to slip the ford 6 spline coupler in,then TIG welded it .
so far about 20000miles no worries.
BUT you must measure the length as the later 6 spline pinion is not the same length as the 10 spline pinion,I cant remember BUT measure to the retaining pin hole for both 10 and 6 spline before you weld.
