I'm going tomorrow 7-7-16 to look at a 1927 roadster pick up that's been sitting in a garage for app 6 years. I don't know why it was parked yet.
I'm new to modelT's been a ModelA guy for 20 years. Now I would like to own a t for the first time. Can you tell me what should I be looking for? I know tires would have to be replaced. What else?

Does it run, does it have a title/paper work beyond that with no other info to go on...What ball park price are they asking? What condition is it? Non running cars are worth a lot less then running cars. Other then that just look at the normal car stuff same as you would a Model A. Check Ebay for current SELLING prices of similar cars, NOT listing prices. Remember just because one like it sold at a BIG auction does not mean the normal selling prices are even close. It's a buyers market, lots of T's but not many buyers.

6 years is a bit like being left in the garage overnight when compared to the 45 years my T was there.
We changed the oil, cleaned the carburetor, added gas, put air in the tires, replaced the antifreeze, put some MMO in the cylinders, and started it.
We killed every mosquito in the neighborhood and after a few test drives when to get ice cream.

The big question is what condition it was in when parked.

If I go by the plate that was on mine (1929) and when I bought it out of the barn (2002) don't know when and where mine may have been driven/run but I did the same thing to get it running. Poor old tired girl, she was in bad need of a rebuild but I did get to drive her some before I did the refresh. :)

How tall are you? The 26 - 27 cars are very small inside compared to earlier Model T's. If you are over 6 feet you may be very uncomfortable driving that car.

You should look for body rust or rust repair. The mechanical parts are relatively easy to find and fix. If you need to replace top bow sockets you will be around $1000 just for parts. The doors are not reproduced, and if they are rusted out at the bottom you will have to do expert fabrication and welding to repair that sort of problem. Rust repair is very expensive if you cannot do it yourself.
