Hello all!

New member here from central Ohio. Great site, looking forward to reading my way through it.

I just brought home the family 1929 Model A Sport Coupe. My dad restored it in 1964 as simply a parade car...not for any concoures events! He died in 73, and it has sat in my mom's garage for the remainder of its life (with a 46 Packard Clipper for company). I have driven it a few times, but not near what it really should be. Now it is in my garage and I am starting to get it road worthy again, although I did drive it here! I am sure I will run into problems (self induced or otherwise) and hope the site contains the answers! Thanks again to the mods and/or designers for setting it up and keeping it going.

Best regards,
Steve

Welcome Shall! That Sport coupe looks great! I'm sure you will have a blast with it. I once owned a prewar Packard, a well built car, but for the ease of repairs and cost of parts, you can't go wrong with a Ford Model A. Best of luck!

Welcome Steve!

You're Sport Coupe is a highly desirable car, neat!

Glad your family kept it all those years. Hang onto it and enjoy it. The more you drive it the better it will be.

Thanks! Your post reminded me it did spend some time in Illinois with my uncle! Yorkville for sure, perhaps Aurora, Naperville, and Plainfield with the cousins as well. Probably late 70's if I recall (which is usually iffy).

Hello from California and welcome... rather new here myself. Very nice car you have there; I like the colors. You mentioned it has been sitting for a while, and I'm sure some of the experts on this site can guide you through getting it roadworthy again.

Great to know another Model A will be "out & about" enjoy the car & have fun, that's what it's all about.

Gosh, this hobby is popping! We just got two new guys in our club in Colorado Springs.

Read the barn every day. Three hours a day is all we ask. :)

Welcome to the barn. All problems only require two things. Time and money and not necessarily in that order.

I may have seen your car back then! Small world I probably have a picture somewhere if I find it I'll PM you and send it out. Would have been a Kodak 126 back then, pretty lousy pictures compared to today!!

The nice thing about a Model A Ford is, they seem to not mind sitting for long periods of time kind of like a John Deere two-cylinder tractor. And if they are kept out of the weather in a dry garage, they REALLY don't mind being parked! Have fun with that car!

Don't let my wife know this, I tell her it needs driven at least once a week to keep it well lubed.:D

Nice to have you here Steve.

Thanks all for the welcome! I have uploaded pictures to my album. It ran fairly well on the way home, but would only do 25-30 mph. Wife was running chase in the vette and getting antsy. ;) Wanted to backfire on accelleration. Going through the fuel and ignition to get those issues straightened out. Tonight was my first "oh sh_t" moment when the shut-off valve snapped at the tank while removing (wasn't shutting off and the packing was giving me issues). So now I have to drill that out and see if still able to fit the new shut-off valve that is on the way. Also noticed the fuel bulb not draining. Took that apart and the hole appears to be soldered shut? New bulb in place as you can see in the pictures.

those triple trumpet horns look like fun.

for safety, please replace that copper fuel line with a correct steel one.

drive & enjoy!!!!

Shall,
Nice to see it stay in your family!! like you, your father looking down is wearing a really big smile

Sorry, couldn't figure out photo posting to a post without hosting them somewhere. Thanks for the fuel line hint (another call to Snyders) and yes, the triple horns (seperate button for each tone) are fun for parades...as is the wolf whistle.
