Heater switch

I replaced the motor in my 47 Ford coupe heater, with a 12v reversible motor from NAPA. The installation was simple with just making two of the mounting studs shorter. By researching various forums, I understand you need to reverse the motor to make the defroster work ?
I'm having a devil of a time locating a simple reversible rotary switch that's not industrial size that will be suitable for my purpose. Does anyone have any info on a brand or stock number ?
Many thanks for your help.

Easy I think, just use a double pole double throw toggle SW. if you want it to look more original mount your old Sw in the dash but not wired and mount the toggle Sw out of site.

Marvin is correct. I have a DP/Dt sw for the direction and a 2 speed heater switch. Just make sure the motor is stopped before reversing.

Yes, as Jim says, you can buy a new original rotating Ford switch which has an illuminated knob. It will reverse the motor for the demister. They are a little pricey but worth the effort to fit and look good. You will have to shop around a bit to find one. Regards, Kevin.

Thanks to all. In addition, the motor I used is a napa #655-1022. The napa site doesn't show any info regarding amp draw. Any ideas as to what amp I should use ?

You will probably find that the stock switch will not change the direction of a '2 wire' motor like you have. The Ford switch of the 1940's has 4 wire connections, 2 for the armature and 2 for the field coils, it uses a different combination of all 4 to change direction of the motor. The somewhat costly investment in a stock switch, IMHO may not be justified or give you what you need.
