Heater Placement

I have a 40 Ford heater and ducts that I would like to restore and install in my coupe. I tried to dry fit the heater will the interior removed and there were original holes in the center of the car for an older installation. The heater cramped my big foot on the gas pedal so decided to weld up holes in fire wall. Noticed that pictured posts of interiors show the heater on the passenger side of the car. I am running my battery in a box inside of the passenger fender. Will a passenger be cramped if I were to install the heater on the passenger side?

I agree with Jerry (Once in a while. LOL) on this. The 39 and 40 heaters were pretty close to the drivers right foot. In fact, each had a "foot guard" on the lower left side to prevent the driver from getting his foot under the heater. 39 was slotted and 40 was solid, or visa versa, My old feeble mind has forgotten. lol

I also have the same problem, you can move the heater up a little but make sure you can still open the cowl vent, Made enought room for my size 12 shoe
