Headliner remove and install on 37' humpback sedan

I have a 1937 humpback four door sedan and am perplexed as to how to remove the headliner. I found that there is a metal strip that has hooks on the back side for the headliner and those metal strips screw into the body. Then, however, there is the matter of the built in hooks for the windlass and now with the metal strips that hold the headliner covering the windlass. How does this all work when you cannot screw the metal strips in place once the headliner is "hooked"?

Why are you removing the headliner? If you are taking it out to replace it then just cut it out. If you are trying to save it then you need a tool to pull the material out from the strips that are above the doors. You can make a tool from an ice pick and put a 90 degree bend near the tip. You can also find some cheap tools like that at Harbor Freight. Just for info if it is the original '37 head liner be aware that the material can tear easily and the thread can come loose as you try to remove it.
