Headlights

I have two questions for a friend with a 29 standard coupe.
Are the backs of the headlights painted black or are they supposed to be chromed?
The horn sounds sick (?), her definition. She has been told to oil the horn. Is this correct and if so where and how is it oiled. IF not correct, what would be the proper fix.
Thanks

Tom is correct with his info on the lights. As for the horn, use some light machine oil (ie: 3-in-1) and remove the horn cover. You will see the armature and the bushing areas. Lube anything you feel will help the shaft turn "free-ier". Wipe excess off after the horn is working better.

Thanks for the responses.
Tom the headlight question was in reference to the outside , back side of the light fixture, as seen from the back. Is the bucket the outside, or are you referring to the reflector?

For the horn, you may also want to try the simple fix along with the oil suggested. It may only need a little adjustment from the screw on the back of the horn to get it "well" again.

Also on the horn, while the cover is off, hold some fine sandpaper on the commutator while it spins. Even if it looks clean, I've found this helps a lot.

18-29 headlites are nickle plated inside and out. Only the outside is polished.
I clean the comutator in my horns with acetone. Then put 1 drop of lite oil on the front and back felts

I was thinking today about my Model "A". It is spoiled rotten but not as much as the dog.

I have a 89 Olds that has about 400,000 miles. I drive in all kinds of weather and all kinds of roads and it has hit about 40 deer. When it has a bad starter, radio will not work or oil leak I get upset and usually wait a few days to tackle the problem.

I never get upset with the Model"A" and start working on it as soon as possible.
