:confused:i took my headlight switch out of my 36 pickup today. i am going to rewire
the truck so i took the old switch out and it was full of grease. is the grease.
is the grease to keep the thermals from corroding from water? or is my steering
box leaking?

On the bottom of the steering box you will see a plate held on with 4 bolts.Remove that plate. There should be a tube attached to that plate that runs up inside the box past the worm gear. This tube is supposed to keep the oil/grease from running out of the gear into the switch. Many times the tube has cracked loose from the plate and will need to be re-attached to the plate. You should be able to make this repair without removing the steering gear.
