Headlamp fitting

Hi all

Does anyone have a schematic for how headlights are fitted to the light bar. Full disclosure, I'm not an A type owner, but I'm fitting some replica Model A headlights to a kit car in the UK. They seem to have the standard, ball & slot fittings, but I can't seem to get them securely fitted. Whatever I do, the light bowls seem to be slightly loose. So I'd like to go back to basics by finding out how they are supposed to be fitted to a Model A.

Thanks in anticipation. Paul Strickland

They fit into a socket.

Ah, that explains a lot. I've been trying to secure then against a flat surface, either a washer or a tube that fits over the bolt. I've got a bit of thinking to do.

Many thanks

Lots of things use the little bowls with a flat bottom.Probably the most popular would be farm tractors.Snowplow lights use them too.I have a dozen old Ford tractor lights in the shed with those cups still with them. Now that you know what you need they will be easy to search out.
