I have a small garage the works on/repairs Model A Fords. A customer called asking if we could install a special head-overhead valves-on a Model B engine. The truck has been stored for a apparently 40 years, and he had part of the engine redone with a counterbalanced crank. I don't have all the facts, by do any of you guys have the experience about this type head??

Thanks!!

There are probably 50 diferent heads out there ranging from ones produced in the 1930's to ones in current production where you could get help from the manufacturer. The old ones might need extensive work. You need to ask him what type of head he wants installed.

The Overhead valve head is not a problem. Most parts are available, depending on who made it. H&H in California is very good to deal with. If its a Rielly, you got SOSS Society, and he just got involved with The Robert Roof head. I had a Miller and sold it cause it was more head then I needed, and I stayed with a Lion Head. (flat head) Sacremento Vintage has a lot of speed parts so you got a bit of info and don't be afraid of it. I found my Miller on a B Block that was built in 1938 and the old gent never got around to starting it. It was all new inside, a bit crusty but cleaned up very well. Iceman
