I have used a variety of gaskets with and without spray. The best results so far has been with the Best brand graphite gasket with spray. See https://www.snydersantiqueauto.com/product.htm?pid=979899&cat=0. It is important to have very clean surfaces that are flat and to follow the torque sequence and re-torque several times and then once a year. I filled any pits with JB weld and used 400 grit paper wrapped around a flat file to smooth after it was cured.

used the modern style years ago that Mike's has, sealed great with no problems, needs no sealant...Mike's affordable in Georgia, good guy.

I used anti seize. It helps when it comes time to remove the nuts. It also provides a little lubrication.

I only use the graphite gaskets with sealer and NEVER those ones with the silicone lines. Once was enough for those.

OK....I used one of those silicone printed gaskets a few years ago along with a 5.5 head. Still on the car with no problems and yes I do drive it often. I did do a meticulous installation and followed the instructions to the letter. With any gasket proper re-torque is critical.

Many years ago, when I didn't know any better, we used the copper clad head gaskets, no sealer, no torque wrench, just tightened them down really good and no problems.
