Assembling an 8ba with EAB heads using factory head bolts. I plan to use #2 Permatex (non-hardening) on the bolt threads to act as a lubricant and sealer. Question: Regular #2 Permatex (in a tube) or Aviation #2 Permatex (thinner, in a can with brush applicator). Any and all experiences and opinions welcome. Thanks in advance.

Henry, I have used Permatex #2 in a tube, with out any problem, for years, on head bolts, or studs.....Ed

Related to another thread here, you might consider coating the shank with anti-seize. Using stock heads you should not encounter problems with electrolysis, but it might help down the road if you have to yank the head.

I don't have the P/N handy, but General Motors makes an excellant thread sealer for head bolts, water pump and intake manifold bolts that go into a water jacket. I have used it for years--get it at the local chevy parts department.
