Having trouble installing correct wiper motor in 35PU

I have what I understand to be the correct wiper motor and correct "spacers" for 35 pickup, but cannot get the motor installed to where the control levers come through the holes in the cover. The angle of the wiper motor throws the controls about 3/4 to 1" below the holes in the cover. I have about pulled out what little hair I have left. HELP.:(

Does your spacer look like this?

Yes. I have both the long and short. I am trying to install using the long one, which puts the controls out to where they should be, but they miss the holes big time. Seems like the angle on the front is not correct, and I don't want to try and correct it and mess up the spacer.

Here's a picture of a wiper motor I pulled out of an old '35 cab a few years ago. It's just like the one in my truck, so the one you're trying to use should look like this.

Yep, that's it. It looks like the spacer is original, but the angle is wrong for some reason. I'm trying to figure out what the problem is. It is probably me. LOL

Lawson,
I measured the angle on my spacer to be 21 degrees. I would think that 35 and 36 would be the same.

Thanks Bill. I spent the better part of the day fooling with mounting the motor. I got some aluminum rod, already drilled the correct size, and I cut and ground to an angle that would work just about right, just eyeballing it, I made a long spacer and a short one for outside and it turns out the be exactly the same angle as the original spacers and it snugs up pretty much the way it should. A little more work on them and I should have everything stitched back up by tomorrow afternoon. Why I had so much trouble with the originals I'll never know. C'est la vie.
