hauling A Model A

Whatever you do, do NOT tow it with the rear wheels tied down and the front hanging of the back. (if you decide to do a car dolly) The front end isnt in a fixed postion like the rear wheels. The steering isnt locked in place, at some point you will get speed wobble. The same thing as if you were to go down a hill really fast on a skateboard. The next thing you know your model a is swearving across all three lanes of highway traffic, and you cant control it. The rear end will be fine past 70 or however fast you decided to tow it at. Just check rear end lub level before you leave.

But if you decide to go with a trailer, ask around before you rent one. Everyone knows someone with a trailer. That will help you save you some $$$

jnunez1955,

Save yourself the potential for a lot of grief. Use a trailer. Where are you located? Perhaps someone here is close to you. You might easily find a new friend who will be happy to loan you a trailer or even help you go get the Model A.

When that POS U-Haul dolly seizes a wheel bearing at 65 mph and takes you and your Model A off the Interstate and into a field (AMHIK), You'll spend WAAAY more than the trailer rental expense.

Rent the trailer! The extra $200.00 may be cheap compared to what you may break or loose. You should also figure that those old tires are probably getting pretty hard and may not even be round.
My 2¢

so, theres a model A about 4 hours away from me...i have to take the interstate to make it there (about 70mph)

Well my question is,
i have a 2 wheel car dolly...i was wondering whats your opinion of hauling it that way
or should i spend the extra cash to rent a car trailer?(really trying to save every penny of extra money to put into the car)

i know... if i do haul it with my 2 wheel dolly i have to haul it by the rear end mounted down...because the rear end wasnt made to go up to those high speeds.

whats your opinion?
I don't see where you are located but if you have local car clubs you may meet some one who has a trailer and would enjoy making the trip with you. Good luck and let us know how the trip goes

I used a dolly for 300 miles round trip, rear wheels down, no problem. If it runs, I would think about driving it just for fun, with a friend following, depending on tires, fluids, etc.
