Harmonic Balancer

Maybe we can get a group buy together for 10 or so to save on shipping. I've shipped stuff to NZ that people have bought here and it's very expensive.
I'm surprised no one here has produced one. Simple lathe work and then vulcanizing the outer ring to the inner one. Or maybe go with an old design that could bolt to the stock pulley.

Remember that it is pretty limited in space in the area. It is tight getting a belt between the damper and the cross member. A lot of the weight is behind the belt groove so you can't simply bolt it on the front.

The harmonic dampener is designed for the specific crankshaft and set of pistons, rods, and flywheel. One dampener designed for a specific engine cannot be simply put on different engine. For instance, a dampener designed for a Chevy V8 cannot be put on a Model A Ford and expected to perform correctly. That also pertains to a dampener designed for a stock Model A going on a Burtz engine. The dampener may help but that would be an accident. See post #18 for a technical link that describes the design process.

I think importing them in bulk is a good idea. It is a little hard to order the dampener from NZ. I would like to the see one or more of the usual dealers stock them.

... It is a little hard to order the dampener from NZ...

Actually when I ordered mine several years ago, I received it in less than a week from when I ordered it. That was better than what I was getting from US based suppliers.

Exactly. Just a myth of international ordering.

The suggestion of a bulk order to the US only adds massive logistical expense and coordinating that not one has stepped up to take on yet.

When I ordered mine several years ago, i ordered via e-mail. I think I paid Murray thru PayPal, $300 including shipping.

Hi Everyone,
Chris Horn here, Murrays Son.
I have indeed taken over manufacturing of these Harmonic Balancers. Made in Christchurch NZ via CNC machining and pressure molded rubber.
We are now making these balancers as a two piece model for easier installation.
There is a plain shaft type for rubber seals or a reverse scroll model to suit the rope type seals. Current price is $340USD for 1 balancer pulley which includes Shipping to US.
I am open to negotiation on larger order quantities for anyone interested in stocking these in the USA.
If you are interested in purchasing a balancer then please email me at [chrismh157@gmail.com]. Give me your name, address and phone number. Payment is secure via paypal and the parts are shipped with tracking on DHL Express.
Any other questions please let me know.
I will try to get some photos up in the next couple of days

Thanks and Regards
Chris

Thanks for the contact info Chris, and thanks for all the information on these balancers here Ford Band champions

Hi Everyone,
thanks for the interest and support so far!
I would like to post up a photo or two but admin requires a few more posts on the forum before I'm allowed to do so.
There has been an increase in cost of the scrolled type due to the extra machining. But more significantly Mr President has imposed an import Tariff on New Zealand. This is resulting in some (un)expected duty fees before DHL can release the package to you.
I am talking with the carrier on best way to navigate this and avoid the extra cost.
If anyone is interested in one or more balancers just reach out and I can confirm cost. There is significant cost savings by shipping more than one at a time into the US.

Cheers

Chris
