hard brakes

my 1956 ford fairlane has a very hard brake pedal stops the car ok but as you drive and use the brakes the pedal seems to get harder.
the car still rolls ok so no wheel is locking up.
takes excessive amount of pressure on pedal to stop.
the car has standard manual brakes(no power)

I bet the inside of a brake hose is wading up within the hose.

BTW, when you crack a bleeder, what does the fluid look like? When I got my 57 the fluid looked like mud.

Make sure you have some slack in the rod going to the master cylinder. Because of expansion of the brake fluid when hot. Not enough clearance can cause the brakes to engage due to the expansion.
