Halogen Light Bulbs, the good and the bad.

Had a few discussions at Hershey.

A while back there was talk that the halogen bulbs were not much brighter than the factory. Well there is more to the story.

There are bulbs being made in India and Australia and there are significant quality differences.

The bulbs made in Australia are very good quality. They bases have a very good plating and the filaments and accurately positioned. It is clear they were manufactured with high standards.

The India bulbs were not so good. They bases were not plated very well. This could lead to corrosion issues. The filaments are not positioned properly which would lead to poor focus. The position is off in rotation and distance from the mount. This is just based on the visual inspection of a lamp on display by the company having them made in India.

Previously, some guys bought some halogen bulbs and posted a review here on the board. I believe they used bulbs that were from India. Some facts need to be check on this.

It is likely that the bulbs you get from places other than Little British Car Co. are from India unless otherwise marked. The Little British Car co is the only dealer in the USA from what I understand.

I just got another set at Hershey from the British Car Co. but I don't see anywhere on the lamp or box where it was made. Kevin, is there any was to tell?
