Half moon piece metal plate

I have a small oil leak right at the back of the oil pan . I can see the cork gasket there so I know the previous owner did install that. There is a half moon metal piece at the end of the oil pan near the top below the cork gasket area. I don't know if there is a name for it so sorry if I can't name it. Anyway my question is is there a gasket behind that and is it ok to take off the 3 bots to see without messing something up. thanks

its only an inspection plate (dust cover) . access to flywheel . nothing to hurt ! ....... steve

The upper end of the inspection (dust cover) plate rests against the cork gasket; when the pan gasket is installed it has tabs that extend into the channels on the rear main, then the cork gasket is installed. If the cork gasket was insalled first, and I have seen this condition, it can cause a leak.
