Grinding valve seats - a question or two

Just had a new idea, uh oh! Regarding the posts about shops vacuum testing the valves, seems to me that it would not be hard to make up some exhaust covers with neoprene glued to some 1/4" flat plate and drilled for a fitting and attach a vacuum pump to it. A little more work for the intakes, maybe a long strip to cover. Heck, a hoist plate could do double duty if tapped for some fittings. Anyway, what kind of vacuum pressure should one be trying to achieve?

The test isn't needed at that level of motor. You will have success with your system. There is too much room for error with that level of valve job after a run in the valve job will be ok.

Valves are meant to seal under pressure- one way. Sealing also improoves with a bit of use... Vac test not worth the effort, IMHO... Karl
