Grinding Gears

So I have been taking my 28 A RP on A few rides, probbaly about 5 miles in all. She is finaly running good with no problems except one; the gears grind when i go to shift. At first i just had to put it into gear quickly and it would not grind. But now when i shift its difficult to get into first or reverce and some times 2nd or third. Dose any one have any ideas why this could be happening.

I am assuming that you know how to double clutch the car-sorry just asking. Have you checked the clutch adjustment? Barring these two things all I can think of is something binding inside the ****** case.

You should be able to slip it in any gear with the car sitting still, the engine running, and the clutch pedal depressed. If there is any grinding while doing this then you need to first check your clutch pedal adjustment.

See when the truck is stoped and my cluch is depressed it wont alow me to put it in gear it just grinds. and i dont know how to adjustthe clusch on these things.

There is a trunion nut on the threaded rod comming off the clutch pedal. Adjust it until you have about an inch of free play. Using your hand, it's very easy to feel when the free play is taken up and the fork pushes the throwout bearing into the pressure plate fingers.

Also make sure the clutch arm isn't cracked, as it may feel like it's pushing the fingers to full release position, but when the arm is cracked it opens up under pressure and the T/O bearing won't move as much as it should.

Your '28 might have a multiple disk clutch. These are notorious for not disengaging due to a build up of dirt in the clutch housing.
