Grille lacing ends 1935-36 pickup grille

What was supposed to close out the ends of the lacing?

I seem to remember some sort of metal clip that clips into the grill in those square holes?

Does anyone reproduce them? Also, the brads that hold on the lacing? I ordered the grille lacing and it came with screws instead, like is on the firewall side. Are they just cheaping out, sop they can just carry a smaller inventory?

Roothawg, Contact A&L Parts Specialties 860-693-0112 or 860-693-2620 and ask for their Cowl Clips and Rivets. I think that they were 50 cents or a dollar each.

Here's a photo I found on the internet. The clip goes under the lace as shown, and fits in one of the slots. I believe that originally the rivet heads were under the clip and the rivets were formed on top of the lace with a star shaped tool.

Roothawg, I should have warned you that they are a Model A supplier. They don't know that their clips work on later vehicles.

Here's the 2 styles that I found in the past. They are all pretty much the same. One was from A&L and the other from Dick Spadaro (RIP) I can't recall which is which.

The one on the left with the split rivet is the one I got from Dick Spadaro. I think it is the same hook as the one used on '32's. Dick was a great help to me, knowing that the grill lacing is 7/8ths" lacing and the cowl is 5/8ths. The grill is just held on with the hooks and the cowl is held on with small #4 pan head black screws. The first kits that I got were both 5/8ths and the screws for the cowl were flathead screws and they didn't send enough lacing for the cowl. Had I known and split that one piece in half it could have worked but I put the same amount one side to match the worn piece that was there leaving me short on the other side. They would not send me another piece. The good side of this is that I found Dick Spadaro.
