Grateful for old pictures

I am so thankful for you fellas that have access to the old pictures that we all love to see. Although born in 1945, I wish I could go back to earlier days, just for one day, to see things as they were. I remember my dad, born in 1895, telling me about being a teenager and the guys dragging an old Civil War cannon around town on the 4th of July. That would probably have been around 1910. How few cars there would have been on the streets. I can only imagine his excitement when a car went by. As I am a lover of the 30's and 40's Fords it would be such a thrill to be at the local filling station when one rolled in. I specifically remember in 1960 being at a gas station and a guy stopped for gas driving a 32 3 window coupe with a beautiful girl inside. The 15 year old hormones wanted to look at the girl but the coupe won the test. That guy is well into his 80's and still has the car. When I look at the pictures you guys post I study them for all the small details. It is a wonderful way to transport me back to the days of yore. It is interesting that as we get close to the end of our lives the things in our past and before become so special to us. I hope the pictures become a regular part of our wonderful FordBarn. Thank You!!!

Pete: That is a great photo that says it all. Thanks for posting it.

I was living in Central Washington in the 8th grade. small town, 2800 or so. there was a popular drive in... diner... right across from the Movie House... w/juke box and tune selector at each table. Moon River always seemed to be playing... the main rod was owned by a guy most just called 'Froggie'. i didn't know him... in HS... he had a '32 5 window high boy. not sure engine, but noone could miss the tripower! every time the coup 'thumped in' as me and my g/f waited in line for the movies... all heads turned to watch.

Thanks for the hemi coupe w/6 pack pix! may not be Forggie's, but sure could be his Cousin's... :D

For all of you that like old photos find some copies of Ford Life magazine that was put out by Lorin Sorensen. There are lots of old photos and each issue had a featured theme. One issue that stands out is the one on accessory wheels for old Fords. They come up for sale periodically on this site, the V-8 Club website, and on e-Bay.

Its always fun to look for the vintage Fords in pictures and movies. I have quite a collection of screen shots from 1950s movies on youtube that I have saved. Like this 52 Mercury in the movie "Man In The Dark.

There are a couple of lengthy threads like this on FTE Ford Truck Enthusiest. I don't think you have to sign up just to look at the photos. Here's one from the current post called 'vintage photos of times gone by' . Well, my linking ability needs work. Maybe someone could link to these on FTE. Hours and hours of this stuff. Mind boggling.
