Got Gramps a 31 Coupe

so we got a zenith 1 from one of the members of the local A club, i tried it right away and it fell on its face if i gave it throttle which i was told it did. I tore it down and soaked it in carb cleaner besides the valve under the fuel adjustment needle which had to be drilled out and luckily was able to be removed with an ez out after a 2 day soak. one thing im kinda worried about is he said the car purred when it was parked a year ago with the down draft and that the carb he gave me idled fine, but with either carb the car misses like crazy. im starting to wonder if theres something else going on. we ordered one of those new zeniths from snyders that has been "air balanced" to try to eliminate some guess work.

If it had any old gas in there get it out. And do a compression test before you go any
further. If you don't have an adapter to do the compression test use your thumb and
see that it blows your thumb out the same in every hole.
If all else fails change the condenser. And try again. I've seen bad condensers that seemed like a fuel problem.
Start with the basics.

I too have found most fuel problems are electrical.

Get the car running and drive it a bit before you do anything. See what the cars like and then start switching things back to original parts. One thing at a time, it's easier to find a problem that way. Great to have your grandfathers car.
