Got a new project

Well I've finished the '34 BB and now on to a new project, a ’29 AA. My customer has a fuel company and wants to restore this flat bed to an oil truck. Some ware along a Mickey Mouse attempt was made to replace the rag top with steel. Getting that straightened out I think will be my biggest task. I’ll be needing all the help I can get with suggestions and ideas. The eight foot stake body is in really good shape and really needs a good home. I’ll post a for sale in the “Swap Meet”. One thing I’ll be needing is two 20” dual wheels as pictured below. Any help would be appreciated. The pictures below are what I have to start with.

FYI - The AA is a 1930 (pre June) with the 82-A closed cab. The wheels are 1931 with the reinforcement rib around the lug bolt holes.

Thanks Paul, I'll post a wanted list as soon as I get one together.

Neil thanks for the info. So is the 82-A closed cab a '28-29 or '30-31"? It has vertical leavers for the door latches. There are two different types of wheels on the truck. The one in the picture has a half inch offset in it for wider dual spacing. They all have a 4.5" pilot hole and about a 6.875" bolt circle.

Okay, I'm just gonna throw this out there. Seen as how the roof is garbage anyway, how about a custom form that flows into the shape of the tank behind it? Kind of a custom coachbuilder add on like back in the day. The thing that made me think of this is the memory of an AA that had the entire body shaped like a milk bottle. Tankers are different. Why not be REALLY different.

Is the gas tank cap threaded like a 28-29 or quarter turn like the 30-31. If it uses a quarter turn cap then it is a pre June 1930 like Neil said.

Greg that would would be kinda cool looking but I'm a mechanic not a sheet metal man. Anybody tried one of those wood roof frame kits from Mac's?

Fordman the gas cap it quarter turn and the radiator cap is threaded. The engine serial # is *AA2903976* which I think comes up as Feb. 1930. I can't find the # on the frame.

"Tony, remember that in Australia Mickey Mouse is a good thing!" LOL
