Goodyear 21" tires...

It is about time Goodyear Tire has come out with a 21" tire for the 28-29 Model A's...I need a new and refreshing look on my 1929 Standard Coupe.

So long Firestone!

I wish I would have held out slightly longer on buying tires, bought the firestones because that was all that was availialbe at the time. The Good years look better, anyone want to trade? Rod

good to hear they've been released. 21" goodyears have be 'gong to be made soon' for a bunch of years. Looking at the photos they seem to be the later tread pattern. No the decision...hold out for originals that are so far impossible to find, or repop with the close but not right tread for a 28?...fwiw,jm

Mr Mason: interesting point re: 'later style' (of which i was not aware) ... what would folks suggest for judging considerations

I agree,,, the Diamond tread tires really set off a '28-'29 Ford. I bet they sell out the first run real fast.

Steve, hope you're using John Deere equipment for your wheat harvesting!! I retired from the JD Harvester Wks. where we built the JD combines. This year's build orders are close to 6500 units, all pre-sold! If you ever get the chance and are in the Quad Cities take the John Deere tour of the Harvester Works a pretty neat place to visit! Lots of good people there.

BUT I don't miss those summer nights sweating it out in there, more fun to play w/ Model A's.

Yes sir...we got green in our blood on this ranch.

Sure would like a new harvestor but at $350,000-$400,000 a Johnny-Pop, and to let it sit for 11 months out of the year, I am going to have to get some more acres!

I have not had chance to see these up close ...
(1) looks like a bit wider profile. How's the fit in original welled fender?
(2) can someone post a pix of the 'earlier' tread pattern for comparison

I also was thinking about tyres, not to by, just what is correct. The photo I posted
along with the thread " Very early 28 RPU " has B.F. Goodrich !

Did Ford buy from all major brands ?

What is correct for which years ?

Steve...this is right up your wheat row....Dudley

I believe the earlier ones did not say 4.50-21 but something like 4.50x30 which would likely be carried over from the Model T tire days?? I have installed four sets thus far and am really happy with them. MUCH more work detailing these tires w/ the paint!!

I bought a set of the 21" Goodyears as soon as I heard that Kelsey had them in stock. they are great. I haven't mounted them yet but will be putting them on my early '28. You may be right that they are the later '29 tread but even so, they are still more right on than the Firestones.

I've dug through the little bit of literature I have down here in Wisconsin (most is still back in Michigan), and can't find what I was looking for. If I'm remembering correctly, goodyear went from an interrupted diamond tread to a full diamond tread in 29...Somebody correct me if I'm wrong...fwiw,jm

Here's a photo one of my original tires 4.40/4.50 on my 29 coupe there's still a lot of meat but the side walls are split.
