glove compartment light location

I can't speak for those years but my 51 Mercs have a small hole in the cardboard enclosure and the lamp is behind the hole so it's not actually in the glove compartment proper. The switch is part of the lamp fixture on the edge of the compartment door.

Ford usually had them close to the rest of the dash wiring and that would be to the left but in reality, it could be about anywhere. I was hoping that a person who is more familiar with these models may chime in.

There might be a circle or half circle of perforations on the back side of the fiberboard? To be removed 'as needed'. So the same glovebox could be used with or w/o the light, which may have been optional.

Is there such a thing as a 1954 Ford electrical Installation Manual? If so, should show it there. I know the TBirds have such a manual.
