Glass Replacement

Has anyone replaced the glass on the front driver's side of a 52 ford? I have everything off of the door. Don't want to get myself in trouble without checking here first. My glass has a crack in it, and I want to replace it. Thanks, Tom

Don't know how similar 50 is, but that was all pretty simple to figure out but you gotta have something to bed new glass into that channel piece.

Get some glass setting tape. Be sure to see how the track fit the glass. You want track in same spot on the new glass. Block of wood an hammer will fro vent the track. Use black electrical tape to hold the setting tape on new glass. Add some soapy water to the mix align the channel on the glass force it down by hand then tape it on to the glass. Put it back in the door

When I did my vent window on my ‘41 I let the glass setting tape sit out in the hot sun, this slicked up the installation.

i can't add anything as far as installation is concerned but i know if i was doing something similar i'd be buying at least one backup piece of glass. :)

If you have a vent window that assembly may come out first. Then the glass. Reverse. Glass first them vent

I took my cracked glass and frame to the glass shop, and they put a new piece of glass in the frame and sealed it for $79.00. I put the rollers in and also put two layers of blue painters' tape on both side of the glass to protect it. Took the vent window assembly completely out as suggested and got my glass in and installed in the door. No cracks or scratches. I'm very happy now. Thanks for the suggestions.

It was a few days after I got the glass down inside the door without breaking it and yesterday, I got the glass frame attached to the window mechanism. BUT now when I roll it down the glass frame kind of binds on the mechanism. Do they make longer rollers or anything that I don't have to pull the frame in to snap in the rollers. Can anybody help me on this I'd really appreciate it. This is on a 52 customline. Thanks Tom..
