Lined up like that across the back lot of M.J Knipfing's Ford (Long Island) in the 1950's.

The American way.

Dad was driving a tugboat in the Philippines after hostilities ended in WWII. His task was to remove war material from the scrapyards and bring it to above the Marianas Trench for "target practice."

They were using the barges for target practice. Artillery, tanks, personnel carriers, aircraft, jeeps - all went into the drink.

"Dad, why didn't you grab a jeep to bring it back to the states for us?"

"It wasn't allowed. They (TPTB) didn't want anything that would get in the way of reformation of the 'post war economy.' All that functional machinery - like jeeps - would only discourage people from turning out their wallet and buying a NEW car."

As children we were disappointed. As adult I can see the rationale.

Of course now I have a larger stake in that post war economy.

I thought it was another backyard of a guy wanting one each of every Model A and was looking forward to getting started on some restorations whilst he sourced up the missing few! :)

One of the car magazines used to write about “Vintage Tin National Park” supposedly filled with row after row of pre-war cars in perfect condition. Must have been in a desert because there was zero rust.

Fictitious place created by Pat Ganahl for any mecca of a junkyard with vintage cars.
Too Tall died a few years ago racing his vintage dragster. His son and daughter are keeping some of his stuff online. https://patganahl.com/
