Gilmore Trip

Just took a five day excursion from NJ to the Gilmore in Michigan. We drove over 1,800 miles round trip in 5 days to see the Gilmore and the Studebaker National Museums.

It was worth every minute. The Gilmore is like 10 Museums in one with side bars of of eating and interactive events. We spent 6 hours but could have spent a week: Gilmore Collection, Lincoln, Cadillac, Pierce Arow, CCCA, Ford Model A, Franklin, Horseless Carriage, Model T and Motorcycles.

My point is the Ford Model A Museum is all I hoped it would be. A recreation of a 1928 dealership. They offer free rides in old vintage cars... Model A's included...the old style diner and the Gnome -Mobile....a giant recreation of the interior of a luxury car...so big that normal people look small when near it!

Anyway just FYI. Stayed at Holiday Inn Express in Plainwell Michigan. Great place..actually brand new.

I don't think I could make a MI trip without hitting the Henry Ford too.
It's even got a little bit of NJ.
Henry Ford painstakingly relocated and reconstructed Thomas Edison’s New Jersey laboratory complex to Greenfield Village in Dearborn, Michigan, in 1929. Today, this interactive exhibit allows visitors to explore the actual site where Edison invented the phonograph and the incandescent light bulb
