Georgia on my mind

Well folks it has been a very busy summer with selling a house and trying to find the right fit for me and the wife:rolleyes: Finally after a long search we have found our final resting place. Everyone always said that when you find the right place there will be no doubts and fortunately it hit the wife and me at the same time:)

We bought a mini horse farm with 13 acres a barn and two detached double car garages for me:D between Washington and Thomson GA and that puts me about 40 miles from Augusta so Shade Tree A's look out cause here I come:eek:

Hi Dusty,

You earned every square foot of it -- enjoy it!

Just stay active & try to avoid that front porch rocking chair -- they are known to promote ED -- Enhanced Drowsiness, I heard.

Hi Dusty -

Good to know that you've found the "right" place, and "welcome south brother" (the acronym for the old Atlanta WSB radio station). My maternal grandfather, God rest his soul, has been gone for over forty years now, but reputedly had the first automobile in Thomson - I want to say somewhere around 1905 - 06.

On another note, you might want to join us for this year's "Fun with Dick and Jane Tour" that will be centered around Milledgeville, Eatonton and Sparta the second weekend of September (not too far from Thomson). If you think that this might hold some interest for you, let me know and I will get you some additional information. In addition to the Southside A's, we'll also have guests joining us from the Central Alabama Model A Ford Club and the Goldmine Region in north Georgia. Others are welcomed too. Shoot me a response if you think you might be interested: dickcarne@gmail.com, or a private message on this site.

Congratulations on your new home!

Dick

Congratulations on your new home!!!

It looks very nice and you have a lot of space to grow your garages as much as you want. I live in a subdivision, and while I built a nice second garage I am maxed at 6 cars in that garage and 3 in the main garage. Subdivision will not let me buld bigger or more. I live in the outskirts of Columbus, Georgia and belong to the River CIties Model A Ford Club. The Shade tree A's is a very active Club and you will enjoy them.

Welcome to Georgia,

Henry's 31

Hey Dusty-

Welcome, welcome and come see us at the Shade Tree A's. They hornswoggled (is that a word?) me into being VP. We just had a tour last weekend to Abbeville South Carolina. Stayed in the historic Belmont Inn and attended a play at the Abbeville Opera House. It was a GREAT time-a nice ride from Augusta and Aiken (where I live), good companions, and no mechanical issues. A really, really great time and I hope we can get back to doing more of these tours. PM me and I can give you my phone number and fill you in on the Shade Tree A's. Welcome!!! - Greg Jones

Thanks all!! I don't know how much time I will have for car play with getting moved in and taking care of the huge honey do list but I'm sure things will loosen up a bit in a couple of months. I sure am looking forward to an extended summer and a very short winter. I was reminded on the house hunting trip that a northerner that visits and goes home is called a Yankee and and when one stays they are called damn Yankees.

I will miss wild and wonderful WV, family and all the friends that I will leave. However I'm looking forward to this one last adventure in my life and heck ain't no one there seen them green fenders:D

excited but already very tired.

Now Dusty, just to clear things up, we dont regard West Virginians as Yankees. Hmmm, come to think of it, there WAS that civil war thing.....Oh well, dont worry about it. I was born in South Dakota and they have adopted me down here. Guess the folks have just taken pity on this prarie boy.

Hi Dusty,

Just in case one happens to meet "good" loving people from up North & compares them to "good" loving people down South, there is "always" a big difference.

In fact, if one pays attention, there is truly an "enormous" difference.

One does not have to look too far to immediately notice such a tremendous contrast.

Just walk around to the rear of their cars -- "good" loving northerners & southerners have license plates that are a different color -- anyway, after spending time with both, that is what I always found !

Welcome to GA. You will enjoy the winter weather much better. We even have "A" activities year round, so the rocking chair is just for looks. Best regards and hope to meet you somewhere soon. Jim Langley...

hey UNC thats a real nice property you found. the best of luck to you both and with 13 acres to take care of you may need that rocking chair once in a while so don't sweat it. i think the land in georgia is more flat so therefor less cliffs for you to fall off of.:p

Hey Steve Becker (of Bert's Model A in Denver) you'll be glad to know that the black coupe in the upper right photo I bought from you is still being taken care of! I drove 75 miles from Abbeville to Aiken and got around 22 mpg. Now I need to put a 3:54 ring and pinion in it and can move my easy cruising speed of 50 up to 55.
