Generator out put

While under full throttle my amp meter drops to two amps, backing off throttle some it well increase to eight amps. weak brush springs are what?

It could be a weak spring. After a certain RPM the generator output will drop a little, but shouldn't be that much. Is the charging system all stock, or do you have any kind of regulation?

a long shot but make sure the belt is properly adjusted

My generator is stock and cut-out has diode, new belt and is adjusted, battery stays charged.

As said, could be a weak spring. Might also be almost worn out [short] brushes or slightly out of round commutator or the mica even with or above the segments.
