Generator Mount Retainer

On my 59AB, the generator mount stud continues to come loose. I believe I have finally fixed the problem after putting lock tight on the stud and on the nut. However, after what happened a couple of months ago (generator slipped to one side out of cradle in intake, made hole in radiator, fan threw blade through hood, etc.), I don't want to go through this again.

Is anyone aware of a keeper type bracket that mounts to the front two intake manifold bolts and goes around the generator mounting surface to hold it it place if the mounting stud/nut fails? I have looked online, but found nothing. I can't imagine I am the first person to experience this. If not, I am going to fabricate one myself.

Thanks!
Ron

I am sure that you are not the first person but I have never heard of it before. Are you using anything that is not stock?

No. Motor is bone stock. I am making a bracket that will mount to the first two bolts on each side of the intake manifold and then go vertical and forward just in front of the generator mount. That way if it ever comes loose again, the generator will just slide down and rest on the intake manifold, but not move side to side. I will post a picture when I get it finished.

I think you are barking up the wrong tree here...if stud keeps coming loose and has failed spectacularly in service, I think you will find that the stud hole in manifold is stripped or that the manifold is actually cracked in a way that opens up the stud hole.
I would bet on the latter. That sort of thing is generally the result of engine assembly or manifold being roughly handled when out of the car...something like engine rolling around in the bed of a truck and being stopped by stud or generator hitting against something solid.
If stud itself is good, something is wrong with that hole in the manifold. This is not a part that will fail in normal service; it has been damaged in some unusual way!

Thanks Bruce. I just replaced with intake with another one and bought an NOS generator stud and bolt assembly. The new stud is in there and is not going anywhere. Like you said, I am confident that will fix the problem, but I am looking for some cheap insurance now.
