Generator Cut-Out markings

Canadian supplement of the J/S indicates the letter "C" stamped on cut-outs as shown in first photo.

Another cut-out I have has both "C" and "B" stampings as shown in second photo.

Can anyone tell me what the "B" represents?

Also note the "Ford" script difference.

In my 1936 book it says that cutouts with A are july 1934-april1936, with B april 36 thru 1938 ,it says the B cutout was improved

Thanks for the responses.

Tom, I have a couple of those Maple Leaf A ones as depicted. Have no idea what it means or if it's an authentic cutout, but would like to know more.

Here are a couple more from inventory:

So, the "B" cutouts are not from the Model A era?

Since they are not mentioned in the J/S, I assume points are deducted?

It is my understanding that Model A, B and perhaps very early V8 cutouts had slotted feet to mount them to the generator. In early V8 years this was changed to a screw hole replacing the slot. Cutouts for the V8 with the screw hole mounting used letters B and later C to designate the time frame in which they are used. Going by memory B was perhaps 1935-6 and C was perhaps 37-38. Therefore I feel some of the markings made reference in this thread are V8 related, but we cannot see the type of mounting feet from the photos which is a big clue.

barnstuf, thanks for your input.

The feet are slotted on all. I will take photos showing the feet and post them later.

The "C" stamping is shown in a photo of the Model A J/S Canadian supplement, Page F-3.

Barnstuf, my apologies. I errored in stating that all had the slotted feet.

Here are photos showing the mounting feet, the last three with screw holes as you previously mentioned.

Probably not much ado about nothing, but now I wonder if the Maple Leaf "A" logo was some sort of after-market offering in Canada?

Re 'maple leaf' logo enclosing 'A', David Rehor in '1932 Ford Book' states these to be for '32's but I think he also means they were carried over from Model A production.
They have been seen on Canadian Model A's here.
My own car had one with Ford script & 'C' underneath when I got it 41yrs ago at 64,000 miles.

Found this info on the Maple Leaf generator cut-out:

"In 1934 a service replacement from "Autolite Canada" was made available with a very distinct Maple Leaf Mark. (A) for Autolite was also stamped inside the Maple Leaf."
