Generator Bearings question

Notice you have a fuel pressure gauge in the fuel line. What is the pressure range? I have been looking for a gauge in the 0-5 or 0-10 psi range, seems 0-15 would be a large scale of a 1.5 to 2.0 psi fuel line pressure.

can you tell us what charging system your running as I see no generator ,engine is a nice piece of work

'56 and newer (therefore 12v) generators had rear bearings. I can't say whether the endplates are the same otherwise as earlier ones. I would guess if you could make the one you have, you could either modify it to incorporate a bearing, or make a later style fit.

I've done this, machine the armature down to take the 1956 up ball bearing. It's about 3/8", but that's a vague memory... The 1956 rear plate has an ear for mounting, just trim that off to the radius of the barrel. The plate bolts in place like it was made for this.

Thanks everyone for the compliments.
JSeery, the fuel pressure gauge is 0-15 lbs. These carbs can take 5-7 lbs without problem.
Oldskool, there is an alternator driven by a pulley on the pinion yoke on the rear end. It turns on at approx 18-20 mph.
Karl and everyone, thanks for the info re the 12 volt generator. Now, I've got to find one

I kinda figured yesterday that about the only place left for a "generating-type" device was at the driveshaft area, but didn't want to risk insulting you by suggesting anything other than a banjo rear if that wasn't so. This little car sounds very interesting. Any chance of a picture of the car, and possibly just a FEW more details? DD

Hi DD
Regarding the alternator setup. I saw a sprint car with it and thought I could make it pretty easily. It works real well. I can't find the picture in the computor
As far as the car goes, it's just a tudor sedan that looks better in the pics than not. Kind of a work in progress. It has:
Flathead engine, 4 speed trans w/ Gear Vendors OD adapted (eight forward speeds available). Final drive in OD is 3.21:1.
Here are some recent pictures. Thanks for the interest in my junk.
Regards
Jim
The first pic shows the shift ball (it's a Volvo knob with the switch to engage/disengage the OD). The next is the shift lever (Marlin 66 .22 cal rifle barrel to hide the wires in). Car is next, then a happy pic of OLD me with the engine on the dyno and no parts came flying out. Later things were not so good, but that's another story.
Last is a pic of the trans/ GV OD setup

Hey Jim...It's now pretty obvious that you put substantial thought into the details while building your "junk". I can't thank you enough for sharing some high points with us. For sure, no excuses necessary for this one. The rifle barrel is ****! DD

Thanks, DD. Appreciate everything. Found the alternator pic
Jim
