gen/cutout switch

Hi I have a 34 flathead with a gen problem. The elec shop says it is working fine, but when i get it back into the truck, no output. This 3 brush gen has two wires coming out of the gen. One goes to the cutout switch and the other is grounded. Correct?

I think you are missing the wire to the gage-dash area. but I am not great on Electrical.

The little thin wire goes under one of the cutout mounting screws, the other thicker wire goes to the cutout, make sure you have the cut out mounted correct way round, the Bat term is the one to the ampmeter.and faces the front of the gennie.

You can put a diode kit from Mac's pt#a10155d10 for $2.90 in the cutout & it will look original & end the problems that coil type cutouts have. I put one on my 34 Pickup.

Thanks for all the posts. The diode is something I will use in the future. My problem was remedied, as the gen rebuilder grounded the wrong lead from inside the case. Reversed the leads and ALL IS GOOD AGAIN.
