Gear Shift Repair

I am rebuilding a transmission. The ball at the end of the gear shift that engages the the shifting forks is heavily worn. Some time in the recent past I saw an article on a weld build up and machine repair of this ball.
I have checked all of my back issues of the Restorer and Model A News
but cannot find the article. Does anyone know which publication and date this article appeared in. Thanks

all the ones I've done usually have 4 flats worn. I just use my TIG welder and add a bit of stainless steel to the flats and hand file everything round again. Pretty simple and easy. Job done in about an hour.
