Need advice from the Barn.
When shifting gears is it always a smooth none noisy, 100% transition from one gear to the next?
Thanks as always!

Heck no! Not unless you learn how to double clutch the thing.
It is possible to shift her up or down without too much noise.
It's a learning curve exercise.

skip.

With practice, you can shift with next to no gear clash up and down, but ususally there's a little here and there. Nothing really to worry about. As long as you learn how to properly double clutch you'll be fine. Just part of the joy in driving these old Fords!

I dont double clutch.I have found on my car all i have to do is let the engine slow down and shift real slow.No grind at all.I guess im lucky on this one because my 31 was awfull RAY

Learn to effectively "double clutch". What Ray is doing is matching the engine speed with the gears. You shouldn't hurt the old square cut gears but don't even try to downshift until you get to the point of shifting as second nature. After all, you shouldn't be in a rush anyway.
