GAV orientation

no matter how I try, my GAV is orientated with the inside cockpit knob indicator at 10 o'clock and not 12 o'clock.

doesn't bother me except to wonder why. the GAV feels seated fully??

This is NOT something to worry about. Any number of reasons such as the way the knob was seated onto the choke rod, ....to the orientation of the GAV threads, to the wear the needle has where it seats.

The amount you thread the needle housing into the carburetor determines the final position of the choke rod when seated. I personally feel it is more important to not have a gas leak at the base of housing and not worry so much about the aliening position of the choke. Just my opinion.

also beware of the repo choke rods as the knob is threaded on and sometimes comes loose when your turning counter clockwise

Were the original GAV control rods (choke rods) clocked to a specific position when manufactured? I'd love to see the original design prints. On the same track, was there any original Zenith spec for the GAV needle flat when closed?
