Gauges run backwards

I changed my 51 F1 from 6v to 12v, negative ground, with a one wire alternator and my gauges read backwards. What did I do wrong?

Is all reading backwards?
The amp gauge will probably do it since you swapped to negative ground.

Switch the connections on the backside, or if it has a loop with the wire going thru swap the direction of the wire to get it work properly.

The other gauges should not care about polarity.

did you leave your gauges on 12 volt, if so, they will probably
burn out after a while, you can use a instrument regulator
napa # IR9 reduses the voltage to 5.5 to the gauges that will
make them work properly and save them from frying.

Or instead of driving backwards, you could always use mirrors to make your guages look like they're working forward. 8^)
