Is there a gasket underneath the fuel pump stand on a 59AB engine?

Yes,when you install make sure that the gasket is on top of the flnged tube extending into the engine,not between the flange and the block[the flanfe fits into a recess in the block]if done improperly it will bend the base.Phil

You got it backwards,the recess is in the bottom of the stand NOT on the block.So the gasket goes on the manifold first then drop the baffel tube with the flange on it next so the flange on the tube fits into the recess on the bottom of the stand.The bottom of the stand must be flat and even across the 2 bolt holes of the stand.Check with a straight edge. ken ct. This has been discussed before on here. Most are installed WRONG.

Don't make the gasket to thick or you lose stroke on the pump. G.M.
