Not a Ford but was working on a 61 Jeep I just received the other day, smelled gas, was almost going to start it up , but decided to checked the oil, well not much oil but lots of gas, changed the fuel pump, looks like the rubber parts were melted. Haven't run into this since I was in the Air force, but this new gas is not friendly to your older carb or fuel pumps.
