Over the years I have heard of switching to non detergent oil when the rings would not seat right away. The old Harley one was comet or bon-ami by the tablespoon in the carburetor while running to seat the rings. A bit drastic but the rings probably seat pretty quick that way.
I know next to nothing on breaking in a flathead ford (never had a new one) but I would be careful getting it too hot while breaking in, I’ve stuck a stainless steel valve in a guide trying to break in an engine in 90 degree heat (old HD)
