Gas tank inquiry

If there’s no leaks I would leave it bare . Of course this would require using no alcohol gasoline and adding MMO . This is only my opinion. I’ve had 2 sealed tanks start to disintegrate after a few years . Maybe the coatings have improved, but once coated its nearly impossible to remove it all .

I have sealed numerous tanks over the past decades with great results.
I have always used sealer for Hirsch and always purchased the type that is alcohol / ethanol resistant.
The tank MUST be clean for great adhesion, and I suggest you follow the directions carefully.

I used the POR15 sealer on one about 4 years ago. No issues yet, even with the stuff that they call gas out here in California. I think Absolute Coatings makes the POR15 tank sealer kit contents.

This is a common issue with vintage motorcycles of which I have three. The coatings seem to fail as often as they succeed but the failures seem to stem from poor application procedures or trying to save a compromised tank. I don't see any reason to coat a tank that is clean, corrosion free, and structurally sound. On the other hand if the tank is properly cleaned and the instructions are followed to the letter with absolutely no deviation it should be ok. A failure would probably ruin the tank.
