Would like to get some input from other Barners on gas mileage (mpg) they get on their V8 pickups - I have a '52 F1 and have never bothered to check this out. But plan to!!!! ha ha Thanks in advance! Bruno

I have a 53 f-100 with a stock mercury in it ,with the exception of headers and smithys, A fair guess would be about 16 to 18 mpg, also I don't drive much over fifty.

I keep pretty good track of mine and get about 15 average combined city and highway.that's on my 49 F1.

49 F1 265 8BA, '56 F100 diff (3.73 or 3.92 ratio - not sure exactly), drive it at 65 mph, 18 (imperial) mpg. Jets are a bit big at 55. Must try 53ish.

49er, my two ¢ worth... You're gonna confuse the hell out of poeple with your defining imperial mpg!
And with jets at 55, you must live in Death Valley, right?

Pickup or passenger car, mileage is normal at 16 to 18 mpg, providing you don't drive like me.

Hi Ford38V8. Heck, we have litres at the pump here in New Zealand! About 4.5 litres = 1 gallon imperial and about 4 litres = 1 gallon US. Comes out near on 16 mpg US I think ... maybe someone else can straighten that out a bit more accurately.
As for the jets, I hadn't heard of Ford Barn a couple of years ago when I rebuilt the engine and so guessed at 55's. Ken CT was a big help at putting me straight - now I just need to get around to doing it. Doesn't need any choke to start mind you ... but then again it can't be too rich with this mileage.

I'm more concerned with the damage this “crap” they are calling gas does to the fuel systems in our cars then I am with the gas millage...

I think the government want the gas to damage are cars. We got to get those old gas hogs off the road to make room for more Chevy Volts.
