Gas Headlights on 1914 Tourning

Picked up a 1914 tourning unrestored. Runs and drives great. The last owner installed electric headlighs. We removed them and reinstalled the gas lights but all the plumbing is gone. I need to rebuild this system but I do not want to use the stock gas generator (for fear of fire). I have searched this forum but have not found the info I am looking for. I may have missed it.

1. Does someone make a kit to use propane for the lights and is this a bad idea?

2. If no to 1 is there a better gas system to use and if so where can I find out more about it?

3. How bad is the fire danger from using the stock gas system (I have 2 generators)?

4. Is there someplace I can find out more about how this system works (I understand the basics)?

I am a machinist and can make the parts if needed but I would like to talk with someone who has done this before I blow up a great car by doing something dumb.

Any help on the would be great.

Nice car. Propane won't work. I hid a small MAPP gas cylinder inside a gutted generator. You can also get a very small bottle of acetylene at the welding shop.

Be very careful with experimenting with different gasses or even different flame settings with acetylene. If the flame is too hot or too concentrated you can easily break your glass reflectors. Burning with the doors open messes up the air circulation and can as well break the reflectors. Sadly I can attest that this is not an unproven theory!!

I am thinking yes. I have 2 now. One on the car and it came with a 2nd. I would like to take 2 and make one.
